Well, it's that time of year again when the tulips dawn their colors and the residents of Holland dawn their dutch heritage in an array of costumes and pagentry that is known as Tulip Time. Today I had the pleasure of what felt like the unofficial kick-off to this great tradition as the local high schools tuned-up their dutch dance routines with a performance surrounding centennial park. The smell of greasy fries and elephant ears, and the crackly dutch dancing music played over the 1950's style speakers couldn't help but get you in the mood for the week of parades, variety shows, musical performances and the ever popular beer tents that lie ahead.
So go out and have fun this week, and remember, you have at least 4 weeks to work off all of that Tulip Time before you have to grt into a swimsuit for the great Lake Michigan summer that we are in for.
